EMAIL / TRUST

Your first crowdfunding welcome email: set expectations

A pre-launch signup starts a conversation. The welcome email should confirm what the person signed up for, the product’s current stage and what comes next. It does not need to explain every feature or promise an offer that the team has not confirmed.

01

Continue the message that earned the signup

Keep the product name and main promise consistent with the landing page. If someone joined because of a specific use case, a relevant demo may be a better next step than a different brand story. Make the sender and contact route clear so the message is recognisable.

02

Give the email one main job

Ask the reader to watch a core demo, understand the development stage or answer one useful question. Asking for shares, a long survey and several follows at once makes the response hard to interpret. Let the main button serve a clear purpose and keep other material secondary.

03

Explain what follows and how to leave

Describe the subjects you plan to cover and provide a working unsubscribe route. Do not merge unrelated project lists or assume one signup covers every brand you manage. Check the rules that apply in the relevant markets. Being able to send technically is not the same as having permission.

04

Look beyond opens

Client-side handling can affect email-open records. Read them alongside clicks, replies and later actions. If readers repeatedly ask whether production has finished, your stage description may be unclear. Improve that explanation before increasing frequency. More messages are not a cure for the same unanswered question.

05

Put this into practice

  • Align the page promise, sender and email message.
  • Choose one main reading or response task.
  • Test links, unsubscribe handling and duplicate-send controls.
